Creating Fox Tales Treat Boxes

Hello there!  Lately there seems to be a lot of fox images out there in the craft world, not to mention the still popular owl.  Jen Long has created a whole Sizzix collection called Fox Tales that have both of these woodland creatures.

One of the Thinlits sets in this collection is the Owl & Fox box set.  How cute are these?!

For these boxes, I die-cut two pieces each for the boxes from Sizzix's Paper Leather Sheets.  This material looks like leather and can be die-cut, embossed, printed on, inked, painted, water coloured, stitched, and distressed.  It won't tear and can even be washed, still retaining its shape.  When crumpled it looks even more distressed and when making flowers it won't tear when molding the petals.  It die-cuts beautifully too!  I thought this material would be perfect for making these boxes.  My Sizzix Sandwich for die-cutting  these Thinlits is; Magnetic Platform, Cutting Pad, Paper, Die facing down, Cutting pad.

I decided to emboss the main box pieces for added texture.  I used Sizzix's Tim Holtz Herringbone  and Plus Sign Texture Fades.

For the black embossed box, I lightly highlighted the raised areas with Tarnished Brass Distress Paint.

Attach the two matching box pieces together with adhesive.

Die-cut the eye and face pieces.  Adhere these to your boxes. Also die-cut the tales and wings and adhere to the boxes.

Add any extra adornments; I used twine and charms.

In the Fox Tales Collection there are also these Fold-A-Long Card Thinlits sets.

I stamped the inside of my card using Sizzix's Celebrate Flowers Set.

Jen Long with Sizzix has a great video explaining how to create these cards.

Thanks for stopping by,

Jan
