Make 'em laugh...

is the theme for the Operation Write Home blog hop.  I don't know if my card is going to make you laugh, but if you had seen me trying to take a photo of this card, you would have been pretty amused!  I had to take it outside, for better light, and it was windy out.  It kept blowing over and in my attempt to catch it when it fell, I tripped and made a grab for it, breaking the little pop up tab.  After fixing it, I finally was able to take a photo. I'm such a klutz!  Here's my card using Sizzix's Zig Zag die by Karen Burniston:
I used October Afternoon's Sasparilla paper, flags, buttons and stickers for my card.  The stickers are great for the inside pop ups!  I backed mine onto cardstock and then cut out to make them sturdier.  You can also put a little bit of baby powder with a Q-tip on the back of the sticker to remove the stickiness.

Make sure you visit the Sizzix blog, where you can also enter to win one of these dies!

For Canadians who are interested in making cards for our troops, I did find this blogger who has information and links.
Have a wonderful weekend and THANK YOU to the men and women who serve our countries.

  1. Jan, wow! You absolutely ROCKED this challenge, from the giggle-worthy riddle to the amazing layering and scene-setting! I love that lasso-ing cowboy on the pop-up! Just perfect, perfect, perfect!!!! (Photographing the pop-ups can often be a challenge - I hear you! I have become adept at photoshopping out my finger if I've had to hold it open!) Thanks for participating in the challenge and for supporting the troops.

  2. Beautiful Jan - I love the saying - it is very cute! I will have to teach Shea this joke so he can tell family and friends!

  3. Boy do I like those cards Jan! They are fabulous! October Afternoon is one of my favorite paper companies. What you did with it is amazing. I think I need this pop-up die from sissix.
