My Carta Bella project that I am sharing today, is a cone made with the Paris Girl collection:
My Carta Bella project that I am sharing today, is a cone made with the Paris Girl collection:
I purchased a paper mache cone (about 10" long) from my local craft store and covered the outside with the backside of the patterned paper "French Dots". The inside was painted with craft paint. The Sugar and Spice label is one of the element stickers, which I stuck to plain chipboard and cut out, then inked the edges. To make the ruffled trim, I cut a strip of crepe paper and machine stitched a gathering stitch down one side. Gather the crepe paper, judge how big you want your circle and tie the two thread ends together. To glitter the edges, I just put a strip of white glue on a scrap piece of paper and dab the edges of the crepe paper into it. Sprinkle your glitter on the edges and set aside to dry. The ruffles on the top are all made with Paris Girl paper. For the black ruffle, cut your strips (these were about 1" wide and I think I cut out 3 strips) and again machine stitch a wide gathering stitch along one edge. The secret to gathering paper without ripping it is, wet the entire strip. I blot it with paper towel and gather it gently and let it dry. This paper was so nice to work with! For the pleated pink paper, I scored my strips first, folded, then stitched along the bottom edge to hold the pleats together. I dipped the top edge just a little bit in water and bent the pleats down, then let dry. The strip above the pleated ruffle was a strip punched out with a border punch. Ink your ruffle edges and adhere to the top of your cone. Adhere a thin strip of paper in between the black and pink ruffles. I hot-glued tulle to each inside edge for a handle and wrapped a little piece of ribbon around the point of the cone. These cones make great gifts and they are so easy to create!
Here's another one I made, but instead of a hanging one; I cut about 4" off the bottom and glued the cone to a chipboard circle base covered in patterned paper.
I used the "chocolate sticker" from the Paris Girl Alpha Sheet for my front, so I thought, filling it with chocolate makes it a perfect gift! The base was finished off with little dots of Liquid Pearls. I loved working with this line; the combination of pink, black and grey is gorgeous!
