TIM HOLTZ CREATIVATION 2018 BLOG HOP

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Tim Holtz Creativation 2018 Blog Hop and Give-Away! If you are following along, you have just hopped over from the very talented Kaz Hall.  If you just happened to visit me here, you can start from the beginning with the fabulous Paula Cheney.  Richelle Christensen is hosting this blog hop featuring inspiration from all those who contributed to the Tim Holtz booths. Make sure you visit all these amazing artists and leave a comment on everyone's blog for a chance to win prizes!

I'm sharing this set of shadowboxes today featuring one of my favourite of his new releases, the new Tim Holtz Metal Vignette Bases.

There's a set of two in each package, the smaller about 1.625 inches wide, and the larger one at 2.75 inches wide. The top of these bases are flat, making it easy to adhere to your structure.

I've added a painted wood finial piece (TH93573) to give the larger box more height, plus finished off the top with another finial.  I can't seem to leave any metal unpainted, so I painted my bases first with a brown distress paint, wiping off the excess, then after that dried, Faded Jeans lightly on the raised areas. Both of my boxes were painted with a Faded Jeans wash (paint watered down)and a few splatters of Picket Fence paint. The new Vignette Frames (TH93694) fit perfectly over the Vignette Boxes (TH93279) and there's all four sizes in one package.  I've realized that I enjoy creating with lots of dimension, I just can't seem to leave anything completely flat!  Maybe that's why I'm hooked on making these shadowboxes. I raised one of the new Baseboard Frames(TH93710) with foam, placing a Photobooth vintage photo(TH93207) inside a Foundry Frame(93198) behind.  To finish off the inside I used a metal Ribbon Adornment (TH93686), "she is brave" Remnant Rub (TH93695) over a painted chipboard piece, tiny Key Adornment(TH93321), tied with Tim Holtz Craft Thread (015274) and dyed Crinkle Ribbon (TH93020).

My smaller box was created the same way as the larger one, but the base just glued directly onto the box.  Instead of a finial, I adhered a metal corner from the Vignette Accents pkg(TH93687) to the front.  When covering the inside of the boxes, I used an assortment of Tim Holtz papers and also the new Worn Wallpaper (TH93692)pkg.  I took a Watch Cameo(TH93264) and placed one of the new Quote Tokens (TH93691) on top.  The words were highlighted with Picket Fence paint and again his Craft thread was used.  My layers of papers behind the watch were die-cut with Tim's new Stacked Label Sizzix die(662695).

I have a few more projects that I will be sharing at a later date, hopefully you come back to visit!

Thanks so much for visiting me here and I hope you have been inspired to create your own shadowbox.  Next up on the blog hop is Jenny Marples with her incredible Creativation project!

  2. Wow Jan! What a great project! I can't wait to get the vignette box covers and the metal finials! I like how you put the quote tokens in the watch! Clever! Great job as always girlie!! XXX

  3. Both pieces are spectacular. They really look like vintage pieces and they have so much weight to them. I love it. I find that sometimes Tim's frames and boxes are small and as home decor I struggle to make them look big enough to stand out. . Yours are fantastically bulky and make the statement I am looking for. The painting is perfection- I cannot believe you used faded jeans - they both just look super old and just the most perfect patina
