I can't believe it's the end of June already. I thought I was finally getting things done and on time, but it seems like every week more gets added to my list.
My sisters and I are having to share the responsibility of taking care of our parents more every week, so the free time is shrinking. You'd never know by looking at her, our mom is 89 and our dad will be 91 on July 1st. Unfortunately, he is really starting to look and feel his age. It's hard to believe he was still driving at the beginning of the year! Hope I do as well as them in my old age!
It was also my sister's birthday last week and here is a card I made for her:
I just received this new Tim Holtz Dragonfly die and embossing folder last week. I have been anxiously waiting for this one, the butterfly and the bee, ever since I saw them at CHA. Hope you don't get sick of looking at my projects using these ones, I'm pretty sure I'll be using them a lot!
I used Bo Bunny's new Enchanted Garden paper collection. Love the colours in this line.

The "happy birthday" is a new Sizzix ShadowPress Debossing folder called Sentiments. For those of you who haven't used these, they mimic the look of letterpress designs. The words are pressed down instead of raised up, and the negative space can be filled with inks, markers or other colour mediums. I just lightly inked the flat surface, which highlighted the negative area. I love how subtle the words look on the card.
Behind my dragonfly is a trellis die-cut, cut out from Sizzix's Trellis Frameworks die. I glued patterned paper to a piece of chipboard and then cut it out. Seems like I have been using these Sizzix frameworks dies a lot, they are perfect for adding dimension to any project.
For my dragonfly, I again glued patterned paper to chipboard and then cut out. After cutting out, I placed the dragonfly in the matching embossing folder, and ran it through my Big Shot. I inked the edges with Evergreen Bough Distress ink, and Prima's Metallic Purple Chalk Ink. With Ranger's Crackle Accents, I applied it over the entire dragonfly and let dry. Once it was dry, I applied a very small amount of Gold Rub 'n Buff Metallic Wax finish(with my finger) to the dragonfly and wiped off any excess, leaving it just in the cracks. I think I'm obsessed with crackle, can't stop crackling everything! lol.
To finish off my card, I added a couple of flowers from Petaloo (Botanical Blooms).
I'm working on card using the bee, will show and tell soon.
We were hoping that these new dies were going to arrive last week at the store, but the shipment has been delayed. Hopefully this week!
Thanks for stopping by,
Jan
