MONTHLY CHALLENGE LAYOUTS

Morning everyone!  I was going to share my February Urban Scrapbook Design Team monthly challenge layout with you and realized I did not share last month's.  I think January was just a blur for me, that horrible cold I got lasted for almost the entire month.  So here are my layouts:

This is my February layout of my mother-in-law and Elvis.  Actually it's my father-in-law, but doesn't he look like him?  In this kit, the papers are from the Kiss, Kiss collection by Crate Paper.  I used the heart and paint splat die from Sizzix's new Tim Holtz 660222 Scribbles & Splat thinlits set.  You can't really see the paint splat, it's under the hearts and I've embossed it with the Stampendous Gold Spoonful of embossing powder & elements. The black and gold dot paper was die-cut with Sizzix's Tim Holtz 660220, Mixed Media Thinlits set. There's a little "love" on top of my ribbon, which is also a new Tim Holtz thinlits die, from the set "Handwritten Love" 660218.  I am loving these three new thinlits sets, I could use them on everything! They should be in the store any day now. We had some printed acrylic square pieces in the kit, which I cut out the design part and and used that on my layout.  There's also some acrylic page pockets in the kit, which my journaled paper is in, along with paper heart confetti.

Here's my January layout:

I think we all fell in love with this BoBunny collection, "Altitude" that was in our kits.  The colours are so beautiful and when all of our layouts were displayed on the wall, they looked amazing.  I used a word stamp with Distress Paint first, then a Memory Box stencil with Wendy Vecchi Crackle Embossing Paste.  The bare trees were cut out by hand and my snowflakes were die-cut from Sizzix's Tim Holtz Paper Snowflakes Thinlit set (660059) and Stacked Snowflakes (660052) Bigz die.  There was glitter paper which I cut out snowflakes with and alcohol inked them in random areas.  The winter wonderland is also a Tim Holtz thinlit die from the set, Script Holiday Words (660058).  I have been asked a few times how I did the scrabble tile word snow and it's reflection.  It was on one of the patterned papers (Bundled) and I just cut out each tile and adhered it to my page.

Well,  I hope to get caught up with my projects, that was supposed to be my goal this year.  I always seem to be late, and rushing to finish.  It isn't helping when it's been really busy at the store, some long hours trying to keep up with orders coming in.  I was hoping some of our new Tim Holtz dies would be today, but it looks like customs is holding things up again.  Why is it always the stuff we REALLY are waiting for?

But we did get in yesterday, the most amazing paper.  Some of it is like a velvet metallic, and bright rich colours. Brushed metallic, pearlized, chalk paper, ...you have to see it.  Oh boy, it's so hard to take home a pay check!

Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend!

TIM HOLTZ CHA CARDS

Hi everyone!  Just sharing some cards I created for the Tim Holtz CHA booth.

The paper in this card is from the new collection, Correspondence. My feather is Sizzix's 660237 Tim Holtz Feather and Embossing duo die.  I love when there is a matching texture fade embossing folder included with the die!  The heart is also a Bigz die, 660233 Heartfelt, which has 11 different hearts on the one die.  I used Rock Candy Crackle paint on both of these.  These two dies are expected in stores, sometime in February. The plain vellum was embossed with Texture Fade 659448 Chevron & Lattice set.  I then used Distress markers to fill in some of the pattern. The little loop pin is new too, and great for hanging charms or embellishments.

If you loved Tim's last release of Framework dies as much as I did, you will need this one too!  It's called Wave (660027) and perfect for those background elements. I used three different colours of Distress sprays on this one. Sorry, I can't remember the combination, but I think one of them was Tattered Rose, one a brown tone, and the other a metallic. The Tea Time 660234 bigz die has two teacups, the saucer, and teabag.  The cups have a slit that cuts out, so you can tuck things in it.  I covered my chipboard teacup with patterned vellum from Tim's Wallflower Vellum collection and the clock is from the Vellum Ephemera collection. The butterflies (659575 Butterfly Frenzy) and flower (657492 Tattered Pinecone) were also made with the patterned vellum.  The rub-ons are Idea-ology Remnant rubs (Elements and the new Special Delivery).  The word, Love, is die-cut from Tim Holtz Sizzix 660056 Alphanumeric 3/4" letter thinlits.  I cut out three of each and layered them on top of each other, for more dimension.  My background paper is from Tim's Resist Paper Stash Motif.  This pad of paper has different resist patterns printed on plain or kraft cardstock and comes in different sizes of patterns, as all his paper pads.  I love using this when I don't have matching cardstock, or I want a faint pattern.  I just ink it in coordinating colours.  You can go lighter or darker wherever you want, awesome stuff!

This card is using the new Correspondence paper collection and tissue tape.  My bird die is from last year's release, Birds in Flight 659425.  Love this die, … as I love anything with birds.  I die-cut it from the patterned paper and using my Ranger Melting Pot with Utee (thicker clear embossing powder), I dipped my bird die-cut into the pot.  This gives the die-cut a enamel look.  The little clouds are one of the new releases, Movers & Shapers Mini Airplane & Cloud set.  I covered these with paper and tissue tape.  The star paper is also from the Resist Paper Stash pad.

I think I had one or two more cards, but I was in such a hurry to send them off, I forgot to take photos.  I can't even remember what they looked like!  I'm always in a panic to get them in before the deadline, worrying they won't get there in time.
