CREATIVATION 2018 SHADOW BOX

Hello everyone,  just sharing my last Tim Holtz Creativation 2018 project today.

This is a shadowbox that hangs on the wall, created with a Vignette box and one of the new Collage Frames.

I used one of the new Collage Frames(TH93711) for the front of my shadowbox. These are approx 5 x 8".  I covered the frame with Botanical Collage paper (TH93705) using Collage Medium, then lightly coloured it with Tim Holtz Distress Markers and a waterbrush. A small mini handle from the Mini Hardware Pulls set (TH93685) was added above the opening, and Large Keyhole (TH93678), a mini knob from the Mini Hardware Findings (TH93571) and key from Locket Keys Metal Hardware set (TH92822) were added to the lower part of the frame. These metal pieces were darkened with Black Distress paint and Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide ink.  The frame was then adhered to a Vignette Box (TH03279).  I lightly painted the outside of the box with watered down white paint, just to tone down the brown stain.

For the inside of the Vignette Box, I covered the back with Worn Wallpaper (TH93692), tearing a piece then curling it apart to reveal a bit of printed paper (Tim Holtz Memoranda TH93550).  The photos are from the Photo Booth pkg TH93207), and also used Quote Chips(th93563), Clock Hands (TH93693), Clock Face (TH92831), Salvaged Design Tape (TH93672), Letterpress (TH93130) Treasures Adornments (Bird) TH93572, and Clippings Stickers (TH93583).

VALENTINE'S MINI MASON JAR

Hi everyone,  just sharing a little Valentine's gift I created for my mom.

I used a Tim Holtz Mini Mason Jar (TH93202) and added a Photo Clip Kit (TH93351). The lid on my candy filled jar was painted pink.

I dyed my seam binding with Spun Sugar Distress spray.  A Milagros Idea-ology Heart (TH93676), Jewelled Charms (TH93697), and dyed Bouquet Findings (TH93569) were tied to my bow with Tim Holtz Craft Thread.

For my frame, I used the smallest Baseboard Frame, there's 8 different sizes in a package (TH93710).  I  took a piece of the Idea-ology Plain Collage Paper (TH93708) and stamped it with Tim Holtz Botanical Sketch (X3-2560) Stamper's Anonymous stamp and archival black ink.  It's quite a large stamp, but I used just a section big enough to cover the frame.  The collage paper was adhered with Collage Medium.  I used Distress markers to colour in my flowers and then used a bit of Distress Oxide in Frayed Burlap.  A "love" Metallic Quotation sticker was added (TH93559), along with flowers die-cut with Sizzix Small Tattered Florals (661806).
These mini mason jars make great little gifts!  Hope you  have a great Valentine's Day!

Until next time,

Jan

CREATIVATION 2018 TRINKET TIN

Hello there, glad you stopped by!
Thank you so much for all the wonderful comments on my previous post, the Tim Holtz Creativation Blog Hop.  I hope you enjoyed all the inspiration as much as I did. The winners of the blog hop have been posted on Richele's blog here.  Thank you Richele, for organizing it all, hope we do it again!
Today I'm sharing my another project from Tim's booth.  I didn't have a chance to do much this year.  My son(lives in Australia) came home for Christmas this year and brought his girlfriend who has never been to Canada or seen snow!  Unfortunately it was so cold, with temperatures as low as -46C, I'm not sure she will want to return for our winters! She couldn't believe or understand how we could live in those cold temperatures, and at this point (it's still cold) I'm beginning to question why we live here too! We also had a very special surprise a few days after Christmas, my daughter came home too. I can't believe my kids all kept it a secret.  It's the first time our family have all been together for Christmas in over ten years!  So it was a very busy holiday season for me, not much crafting time!

Here's is a project using one of my favourite Idea-ology embellishments, the Trinket Tins (TH93698).

I have turned the Trinket Tin into a wagon, using the Tim Holtz Milk Caps (TH93684) as wheels. To attach them, I cut strips of thin chipboard, measuring across the bottom of the tin plus about 1 1/2" extra and about 1/2 wide. Attach one end to the back of the milk cap with a Hex Fastener(TH93268), adhere the strip to the bottom of the tin and with the opposite end piece, attach another milk cap. I distressed the caps a bit, and added a small amount of white paint to fade the colour.  Fluted Stars (TH93660) were lightly painted and adhered to the front.
The tin itself is lined with Idea-ology Aviary Collage Paper (TH93706) that I applied with Collage Medium.

Some of my little flowers were die-cut with Sizzix's new Thinlits set, Funky Floral #3 which will be available in April.  There are three different sets in the Funky Floral series.  I created my coloured paper with Distress Oxide inks and Distress Mixed Media paper, giving them a soft watercolored look. I also used the Tiny Tattered Floral Thinlits set to make a few tattered roses.

#2 March Release

#3 April Release

Before filling my tin with flowers, I glued three small glass jars that were lightly painted(Corked Vials TH92899) to the base and then added a tiny bit of crunched up Tim Holtz Fringe (TH93688) in the new soft cream colour. The Fringe was also added to the inside of the tin. A painted metal Butterfly (TH93689),  Snarky Small Talk Sticker (TH93704) and Paper Dolls (TH93555) lightly coloured were added also.  These paper dolls come in a package of 107.  That's a lot of paper dolls!  With each new Tim Holtz release, there will be new ones added and some older ones removed, but the product number will remain the same. My string is Tim Holtz craft thread, braided and a Story Stick (TH93680) tied to the end.  White paint was applied, then wiped off, leaving the numbers white.

Hope you are inspired by my project to create your own wagon!

I have one more project to share, will do that soon!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

TIM HOLTZ CREATIVATION 2018 BLOG HOP

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Tim Holtz Creativation 2018 Blog Hop and Give-Away! If you are following along, you have just hopped over from the very talented Kaz Hall.  If you just happened to visit me here, you can start from the beginning with the fabulous Paula Cheney.  Richelle Christensen is hosting this blog hop featuring inspiration from all those who contributed to the Tim Holtz booths. Make sure you visit all these amazing artists and leave a comment on everyone's blog for a chance to win prizes!

I'm sharing this set of shadowboxes today featuring one of my favourite of his new releases, the new Tim Holtz Metal Vignette Bases.

There's a set of two in each package, the smaller about 1.625 inches wide, and the larger one at 2.75 inches wide. The top of these bases are flat, making it easy to adhere to your structure.

I've added a painted wood finial piece (TH93573) to give the larger box more height, plus finished off the top with another finial.  I can't seem to leave any metal unpainted, so I painted my bases first with a brown distress paint, wiping off the excess, then after that dried, Faded Jeans lightly on the raised areas. Both of my boxes were painted with a Faded Jeans wash (paint watered down)and a few splatters of Picket Fence paint. The new Vignette Frames (TH93694) fit perfectly over the Vignette Boxes (TH93279) and there's all four sizes in one package.  I've realized that I enjoy creating with lots of dimension, I just can't seem to leave anything completely flat!  Maybe that's why I'm hooked on making these shadowboxes. I raised one of the new Baseboard Frames(TH93710) with foam, placing a Photobooth vintage photo(TH93207) inside a Foundry Frame(93198) behind.  To finish off the inside I used a metal Ribbon Adornment (TH93686), "she is brave" Remnant Rub (TH93695) over a painted chipboard piece, tiny Key Adornment(TH93321), tied with Tim Holtz Craft Thread (015274) and dyed Crinkle Ribbon (TH93020).

My smaller box was created the same way as the larger one, but the base just glued directly onto the box.  Instead of a finial, I adhered a metal corner from the Vignette Accents pkg(TH93687) to the front.  When covering the inside of the boxes, I used an assortment of Tim Holtz papers and also the new Worn Wallpaper (TH93692)pkg.  I took a Watch Cameo(TH93264) and placed one of the new Quote Tokens (TH93691) on top.  The words were highlighted with Picket Fence paint and again his Craft thread was used.  My layers of papers behind the watch were die-cut with Tim's new Stacked Label Sizzix die(662695).

I have a few more projects that I will be sharing at a later date, hopefully you come back to visit!

Thanks so much for visiting me here and I hope you have been inspired to create your own shadowbox.  Next up on the blog hop is Jenny Marples with her incredible Creativation project!
