A Mixed Media Tag

With weather like this, I don't want to leave the house!  I think we are getting all grumpy and tired of this, hoping that spring will get here soon!  All I can say is, at least it's good scrapbooking weather… and that's all that's good about it!

I have been playing around with some of my mixed media supplies and what better way to try them out on than with tags.  One of our very talented Sizzix Design Team members is Vivian Keh, and she does some fantastic mixed media projects.  Vivian has created some great videos explaining her creative projects, and I used one of these ideas to create this tag:

This tag was inspired by Vivian's Mixed Media "Earth" tag video.  Using Wendy Vecchi's Black Embossing paste, tinted with Primary Elements Navy powder ( I wanted it to have a navy shimmer to it), I applied it with a palette knife to my tag.  After this had dried, I applied Lindy's Stamp Gang Gold Embossing powder with Ranger's Emboss It Dabber to the edges of my paste.  After heating the powder, I inked the bare sections of my tag with Distress Ink.  I grabbed a couple of different colours of Lindy's Spray.  I know you are going to wonder which colours I used, but I honestly can't remember what exactly I used!  I tend to pull out a bunch of ones I think I might use and just go for it.  I do know that I used Buccaneer Bay Blue to get that beautiful blue shimmer.  I also used Steampunk Sepia, ...I think. Sorry for my bad memory, I'm just going to blame it on the cold weather!   I added in some Vintage Mechanicals by Prima's Finnabair, ribbon, and a bird charm to finish off my tag.
I hope you check out Vivian's tutorial on this technique and her many other mixed media ones.

Have a great day and stay warm!

Wow! That is a stunning tag. The texture looks amazing & I love the colour, as well as the metal embellishments.

I agree, stunning tag. As soon as I get a moment's time from my current projects, I want to try this. On another note, if these temps are in fahrenheit, you live somewhere even colder than I do--which isn't easy.

You're right Jan, it is a fantastic video (very inspiring) and I love what you've created as a result of seeing it. The depth of colour you've achieved is gorgeous. Jenny x
