May Monthly Challenge

is up at Urban Scrapbook!  It seems like I just finished April's challenge, I can't believe how fast the month went.  April was a busy month for me with seven birthdays in our family, plus we have a kitchen renovation that started.  It's only been two weeks into the reno and it's already driving me crazy, how do people cope with ones that last for months?  We live in an older home, so there have been some electrical surprises, which lead to, us not having any power in my scrapbook room, the computer/t.v. room and the bathroom.  Of course, it had to be the rooms I use!  I think the worst is over, they are inspecting the electrical right now, hopefully there won't be any more surprises!  I'm sitting here, typing with my dog on my lap, I have to keep her away from the electrician while he's busy, she's in love with him!
Anyways, here's my layout for May:
This month, our kits include the new Heidi Swapp collection, "Sugar Chic".  This has been quite popular at the store, along with her new resist paper.  The circle in the middle is the striped resist design.  When you ink or use colored spray on the paper, the resist part stays white, making your paper very unique!

We had the Sugar Chic Bow-ties in our kits also, which are very easy to take apart and alter.  I ran this one through my Vagabond with the Tim Holtz Dot-Matrix embossing folder. I highlighted a few dots with ink and added a flower cut out with the Tim Holtz Tattered Pinecone die.  The small black flower and the lace looking strips are made with the Tim Holtz Vintage Lace die. The yellow fringe strip is Heidi Swapp's Sunshine Trimmings.  When you lightly heat these, they curl up, and change form!
Inside the kits are Heidi's Buzzwords, which are word stickers.  I used alcohol ink to color the word beautiful, which was a purple/pink to black, so it would show up better on my paper.  Love these words, wish Heidi would make a package of commonly used words, all in black!  This month, the included sketch called for five photos, which wasn't too bad, especially when the four were small.
These photos are from my favorite Greenhouse and gift shop, Wellington Gardens.  They close after Christmas and reopen at the end of March, with wonderful Spring displays.  The owners travel all over the world to bring back antiques and wonderful treasures!
Hope you have a great week!
