June's Monthly Layout Kit

Hi everyone, just sharing my June layout from Urban Scrapbook's monthly layout challenge.  This month our challenge was to scrapbook about fathers.  Here's mine:

This is my husband and younger son golfing at Jasper Park lodge golf course.  My husband loves golfing, and he is thrilled our son shares the same love for it.  When on holidays, they always tried to fit in a game or two and this course was so beautiful, even I tagged along to be their golf cart driver and photographer!

The papers in our kit are from Graphic 45's Good Ol' Sport Collection.  I started off with inking, using my Tim Holtz Speckles and Splatters stencils on my background paper.  Then, using Wendy Vecchi Transparent Embossing Paste that was tinted with Dylusions Ground Coffee and Chopped Pesto sprays, I applied that on my paper with the Tim Holtz Chevron and Arrows stencils.

The large wood ATC card in the center is from Prima.  Using my Tim Holtz Crocodile stencil, I first sprayed Dylusions Ground Coffee on it and then applied embossing ink with the Ranger Embossing Dabber, before applying embossing powders from Stampendous.  There is adhesive backed cork in the kit, and I die-cut my Sizzix Tarnished Trophy from that and the word, Golf.  The trophy was also sprayed with Dylusions Ground Coffee.  I painted my Tim Holtz framed alpha parts.  The small letters were die-cut from Sizzix's Tim Holtz Typeset die.  The pocket watch is also from Prima.
Everything is included in the kit except my stencils, dies, embossing paste, inks, paint and sprays that I used.  They are for sale in Urban Scrapbook until sold out (which is usually pretty fast!).

"One Year" Layout

The theme this month on Sizzix's blog is "Celebrations" and I decided to do this layout about something that makes me happy!  I celebrate every year that I am cancer free by walking in Edmonton's "Run for the Cure" breast cancer run. The turn out for this walk/run is amazing, but it is also heart wrenching to see how many people have been affected by this cancer.  Wouldn't it be wonderful if someday there wasn't a need to have these fundraisers, because there was no cancer?
I have a tutorial on the Sizzix blog today, showing how I made my layout.  I loved making these Moroccan flowers, and they were so easy!

More Sizzix Graphic45 Cards!

I thought I'd share a couple of cards I did today, using once again, my Sizzix Graphic45 Framelits and stamp sets from my previous post.  I couldn't stop at one card!

I stamped and cut out two of each die cut, as in the previous post, and pop-dotted one on top of the other.  This time, I die cut a third one out of acrylic, and stamped the Memories stamp with permanent ink.  This one, I adhered behind the top layer. 

To color my die cut images, I used Majestic Blue Silks glaze and a small amount of Viva Inka Gold paste.  The flowers were all hand cut.

Again, I die cut and stamped two of each image, then pop dotted.  With this card, I coloured the images with Gelatos.  I used Kaisercraft's Porcelain Rose paper for both cards.  These die and stamp sets are so beautiful, I'm sure I'll use them many times!

Graphic45 and Sizzix!

Hello everyone!  Today I have a card featuring two of Sizzix's Graphic45 Framelit die and stamp sets.

I used Sizzix's Graphic45 Parfumerie Framelit & Stamps set and Tea Time Framelit & Stamps set for this card.

To start my card, I stamped (with Archival black ink) this perfume bottle twice on plain white card stock.

Next, I cut out the images with the matching framelit die.  To colour the inside of the bottle on the left, I used Victorian Velvet Distress stain and for the bow, a Shabby Shutters Distress pen.  The die-cut with the coloured bow is my top layer.  For this die-cut I cut out the center of the bottle, and discarded it.

With pop dots, adhere the die-cut bottle that has the center cut out, on top of the other bottle.  I should mention here, that the stamp set includes two stamps/framelits that can be used in the center of the bottle to fill the blank portion.  I decided to leave this part plain for now, I think I might use rub-ons to spell out happy birthday or someone's name.

 

My card base is 5 x 7, the inside printed rectangle is 4 1/2 by 6 1/2, which I matted with black card-stock (about 1/8" mat). Using Sizzix's Ornate Labels Framelits, I cut one out of pink cardstock, the other from patterned paper.  On the pink one, I applied small black dots along the edge with a Viva Pearl Pen.  The green patterned die-cut was embossed with Sizzix's Floral & Vine Textured Impression Folder and lightly inked on the raised areas and edges. I stamped flowers and die-cut them out from the Sizzix Graphic45 Tea Time framelit set. These were coloured with Distressed Victorian Velvet stain and a Shabby Shutters Distress Pen also.  The petals of the flowers were shaped with a stylus, then the centers were highlighted with Ranger's black & green liquid pearls. The word"love" was stamped and die-cut from the Parfumerie Framelit set.  Once these parts were finished, I assembled my card.

Here's a side view, so you can see the dimension of the bottle and flowers.

I love these stamp and framelit sets, they are perfect for making those dimensional embellishments.  I know the flowers will be used many times!  Can't wait to use that teapot too!

A tag or two...

to share with you today.  I've been anxious to use my new Stamper's Anonymous Classic stamps (love these!) and what better way than to use them on tags!  Here's my first tag:

I used the corner frame from Classic's #7 set for this one.  I lightly inked my tag cut out from Tim Holtz's tag die with Frayed Burlap distress ink first.  Next I stamped my image with black Archival Ink, then embossed with clear embossing powder.  Since I seem be to addicted to Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst sprays, I decided to use Golden Doubloons next on my tag.  But instead of spraying directly on my tag, I sprayed my mat and swiped my tag through it.  Before I did that though, I thought let's add in some magical powder from Lindy's  to give my spray a few shots of different color.  See those dark speckles everywhere?  When the powder didn't dissolve, I realized that it was embossing powder that I had added!  Anyways, I just used my heat gun to melt it and I don't mind how it turned out.  Since I love this color of embossing powder (Lindy's Midnight Gold), I poured small amounts along the edge,
applied heat, and while hot, pressed my stamp in it.  I also did this on my little Tim Holtz playing card.
I then inked my tag a big more with Scattered Straw and Peeled Paint Distress ink, added in a tissue paper flower, cut out with Tim Holtz's Tattered Flower Die and sprayed, then crunched up, and metal embellishments.  I also dyed my ribbon with sprays and Distress stain.  I've been backing my tags with colored cardstock (this was Coredinations colored Kraft paper), and just trim so there's about 1/8" mat around the edges.  I seem to make a mess on the backside all the time, So this covers it up.
On my next tag, I used the dragonfly from Classic's #1:

I love  this stamp!  Again, I lightly inked my tag, with Peacock Feathers, Evergreen Bough, and Broken China.  I then stamped my image with black Archival ink, and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I sprayed the tag with Lindy's Golden Doubloons.  After it was dry, I applied Crackle Accents to the left side of the Dragonfly.  For my flower, I took a metal Graphic45 flower and ran it through my machine with an embossing folder.  It didn't emboss accurately because of the thicker metal, but more or less gave it a bumpy look.  I've had a set of Ranger's Patina paints (Weathered Copper) and hadn't used them yet, so I decided to color my flower with them.  You don't need very much, (I wouldn't use nearly as much next time, just a drop of each color) after the flower dried, which was quite fast, I sanded it to let the metal show through.  To finish off my flower, I cut out some leaves and sprigs from the Sizzix Festive Greenery Sizzlit strip die, embossed with Lindy's Midnight Gold embossing powder and adhered behind the flower.  Add in some dyed ribbon, and again I backed the tag with cardstock.

I have a few more projects that I made for the Scrapbook Carnival this past weekend to share with you, but I will save those for later this week!

Fab Tag

I've got a few tags on the go, but here's one that's finished:

I used the Shabby Chic collection from FabScraps for this tag.  They have great diecuts that go with it too, such as this dress form.  I used my Sizzix Tim Holtz Tag die and a new embossing folder from Sizzix, the sewing & measuring tape set.  To complete it I made this metal flower from Graphic45, some Prima bling, and a wood spool end from Pink Paislee.
Now, I guess I should finish those other tags!

A Birthday Card

I have finally had a chance to get a little scrapbooking done.  This has been another crazy month that is flying by, just as fast as last month.  We are still dealing with renovations, hopefully by next week everything will be done.  I did manage to sneak away with my sister Pat, for a fantastic week in San Francisco a couple of weeks ago.  We had so much fun; the weather was gorgeous, lot's of shopping, walking, and laughs. It was hard coming back to our cool temperatures!
Here's my birthday card using the new Sizzix Tim Holtz Tick Tock die:

I don't know why, but I love clocks.  I keep buying different clocks for my home, love any kind of paper with clocks, clock embellishments, and the list goes on.  So when I saw this Sizzix die, I knew I had to have it.  I cut it out with chipboard and "Content"paper from Authentique's collection, Carefree. After glueing the paper to the chipboard, I lightly inked the edges with Weathered Wood and Frayed Burlap Distress Ink, applied Rock Candy Crackle paint and let dry.  I wasn't sure how I wanted the middle of the clock, but after looking through my papers, found this paper (Hip to the Jive-Times Nouveau Collection) from Graphic45, which had clocks that fit perfectly inside.  I also used the paper and stickers from this collection for the rest of the card.  The flowers were made using the Sizzix Pinecone die and Mini Paper Rosette die.  I added in the wood Prima bird, mini Prima flowers, a brad from My Mind's Eye, and my rub-on sentiments were some old ones from 7Gypsies.
Hope this inspires you with at least one idea on how to use your clock die, I'm sure I'll have more in the future!

Altered Dress Form

I always seem to be buying items with the full intention of altering them and then never getting around to doing it.  After altering my Valentine's day hearts, I decided to finish a metal dress form type of ornament that I bought and started last year.  But, unfortunately I made the mistake of popping into "Homesense"(our Canadian version of T. J. Maxx) last week and found yet another dress form that I thought would be fun to alter.  So, instead of working on the old one, I started but actually finished the new one! I was inspired by Graphic 45's new line, "Kraft Reflections" and the papers were perfect for this dress form.

The dress form is metal, except for the bodice part. I first cut out the cards on the paper"All Decked out" and layered them for the skirt.  One of the papers is a thin stripe(Straight to the Point) which I scored along the lines and made the shorter pleated skirt.  I then cut out the small decorative circles from a Memory Box die and layered them around the waist.  The tissue flowers were cut out with 7Gypsies tissue and the Tim Holtz Tattered Flower die.

For the inside floor, I used a wood Kaiser large doily which fit almost perfectly inside, I just had to shave a bit off one edge.  I had a vintage spool and bobbin that I used.  All the flowers, leaves and swirls were hand cut from the floral paper, "Bed of Roses" except two (those were the Tim Holtz tattered flower die and mini tattered flower die) I used snaps for the centers of those flowers.  The dress form was a Wendy Vecchi chipboard piece covered in paper and then crackled with Rock Candy.

I glued some of the leaves and flourishes on the outside of the dress form too.

The form had four metal hooks around the waist, so I punched out small tags to hang on them.  I then used the spool on the Tim Holtz dressmakers die, to cut out spools with chipboard, then covered with paper and glued those to the center of the tags. Colored some seam binding ribbon with Distress Stain, and tied them to the hooks.  I cut out some butterflies from one of the papers and adhered them on the tissue and one at the top with wire.  That's it for my FINISHED altered dress form!  Now I really need to finish  that other one!
